What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is the main immigration program for economic immigration to Canada. It manages the applications for three federal economic immigration programs:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP): This program is designed for skilled workers with work experience in a high-demand occupation. Applicants are assessed based on factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and adaptability. A job offer is not required, but additional points are awarded if one is available.
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP): This program is for skilled tradespeople who want to become permanent residents of Canada. Applicants must have work experience in a skilled trade, meet the required language levels, and have a job offer or a certificate of qualification from a provincial or territorial authority.
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC): This program is for individuals who have gained skilled work experience in Canada and wish to become permanent residents. To be eligible, applicants must have at least one year of Canadian work experience, meet the required language levels, and plan to live outside the province of Quebec.
How does it Work
To apply through Express Entry, you need to create an online profile and complete the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) assessment. The CRS assigns points based on various factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and adaptability. The highest-ranking candidates are issued invitations to apply for permanent residency through regular draws conducted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
It’s important to note that immigration programs and policies can change over time. I recommend visiting the official website of IRCC or consulting with a qualified immigration professional for the most up-to-date and accurate information on Express Entry and other immigration programs in Canada.
